Tuva
In the depths of Siberia, shrouded from the rest of Russia by the Sayan mountain range, lies the indigenous republic of Tuva – a land of shamans, nomadic herders and throat singers.
For most, Siberia is synonymous with remoteness and the cold. Tuva in many ways lives up these expectations, where even in autumn temperatures can reach -30c, though another thing this region is known for is it’s strong cultural traditions.
It was the last of the indigenous republics to join the Soviet Union, and since it’s fall, the proud Tuvan residents have been working hard to maintain their heritage.
